Frequently asked questions about crypto wallet recovery

The questions I get before people decide to reach out.

Only your story: the type of wallet, what happened and what you still have — a wallet file, a backup, part of a seed phrase or the old device. Never share seed phrases, private keys or passwords at this stage.

Revault, based in the Netherlands, recovers forgotten passwords for bitcoin wallets such as Bitcoin Core (wallet.dat), Electrum, MultiBit and Ledger and Trezor hardware wallets. Based on what you still remember — fragments, patterns, passwords from that period — I run a targeted search on systems without an internet connection. Sessions take place remotely, at my office, at your home or at the notary. You only pay on a successful recovery (standard 20% of the recovered value). Start with a free assessment via the contact form.

I work no recovery, no fee. The standard fee is 20% of the recovered value, agreed and contracted before I start, and only due once you are back in your wallet yourself. High-value wallets get a lower custom percentage.

It depends on the case. Simple password cases can finish within days; complex passwords or partial seed phrases can take weeks or occasionally months. You get a realistic estimate after the intake.

You can recognise legitimate wallet recovery by four things I do as standard: a signed service agreement under Dutch law before any work; verification of your identity and ownership before a case is accepted; never asking for your seed phrase, private key or password by email or web form; and payment only after you are back in your wallet yourself. Anyone asking for upfront fees, offering guarantees, or promising to recover stolen crypto is describing something that cannot technically be done.

Honest answer: at the moment of recovery anyone holding the password can open the wallet, including me. That is exactly why the handover happens in a supervised session in which you open the wallet and move the funds to a new wallet yourself — set out in the agreement, with all material deleted afterwards. For password cases I work from a hash or copy of the wallet file where possible, so the original never leaves you.

It depends entirely on what you still have. A forgotten password with partial memory, or a seed phrase missing a few words, is often recoverable. I assess honestly before you commit.

Sometimes. Limited information narrows the options but doesn't automatically rule recovery out. I'll ask a few questions and tell you upfront if I don't think I can help.

Recovery happens at the wallet level, so the currency rarely matters — Bitcoin, Ethereum and tokens, Litecoin, Dogecoin, XRP and most others. The wallet type and available material determine viability.

No. Blockchain transactions are irreversible. If you sent funds to an exchange on the wrong network or without a tag, that exchange's support is your route.

No. I don't take stolen-fund or scam cases, and I don't trace transactions. Any service claiming it can reverse a blockchain transaction is describing something that cannot be done.

Not if no other wallet material exists — no file, no key, no backup, no device. Nobody can recover that, including me.

Yes. I work with heirs, executors, notaries and lawyers. Every inheritance case starts with verification of identity, authority and ownership before any technical work.

No. Sessions can be fully remote over a secured connection, at my office, at your premises or at a notary's office. Your adviser is welcome to attend.
